    Deoria Tal, also known as 'Deoria', is a natural lake located about 3 kilometers up a hill from the villages of Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. The lake is located at a height of 7,800 feet/ 2,400 m in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Deoria Tal is bordered by lush woodlands and provides breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks in the background. The reflection of the towering Chaukhamba on the lake's crystal-pure waters is quite breathtaking.

Chopta Tungnath Trek Overview

The Chopta Tungnath Trek offers an incredible view during our hikes. The summit offers some of the best landscapes in the Indian Himalayas. It's like a huge feast there's so much to take in that you can't get it all in. Many trekkers will never forget this trek.

The Gangotri peaks, Mt Thalay Sagar, Kedarnath, and the Kedar Dome can all be seen from the top. Mandani Parbat and Janhukut. The majestic Chaukhamba stands straight in front. Most of them stand above 7,000 meters tall.

Gauri Parbat, Hathi Parbat, and Dunagiri are all on your right side. Then directly ahead, standing against the horizon on India's tallest mountain, Mt Nanda Devi. Trekkers find it difficult to believe they are seeing Mount Nanda Devi.

In the spring, the trek is particularly memorable. The trail that goes through the canopy of oak and rhododendron trees is almost like a dream. This trek is picture-perfect, and you'll pass through one of the best rhododendron forests, which light up the mountains in March and April.

The Deoriatal Chopta Tungnath Trek runs through picturesque forests and provides a breathtaking view of the snow-capped peaks. The walk provides an opportunity to see the 1000-year-old Tungnath temple, Lord Shiva's tallest shrine. It is one of the Panch-Kedars, which are thought to have been built by Arjuna.

Even though Chopta Chandrashila or Deoriatal Chandrashila is a high-altitude trek, it is accessible for nearly 8-9 months of the year. The trek is accessible for ten months of the year, except during the rainy season which is from July to mid-September.

Chopta Tungnath Trek Difficulty

The Deoriatal-Chandrashila Trek is easy-moderate, climbing up to 12,000 feet. Deoriatal-Chandrashila is a safe trek. The elevation of 12,000 feet is covered over 3 to 4 days, giving your body enough time to recover. Even if the trek is easy to moderate in difficulty, it is still vital to be aware of potential mistakes.



Chopta Chandrashila with Tungnath & Deoriatal Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Reach Chopta.

Distance: 200 km

Altitude: 8,500 feet/ 2600 m

Duration: 7-8 hours

Our day will start early. The pickup location will be from the Rishikesh bus stand, railway station, and Natraj Chowk. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of the mountains on the way to Chopta. The ride may be tiring because it is a Himalayan drive, but the breathtaking views will keep you refreshed. When you arrive, check into the camp/homestay, and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 2: In Chopta (Trek to Tungnath & Chandrashila) by Drive to Sari Village.

Distance: 6 km trek from Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashila, Chopta to Sari Village 65 km

Altitude: Tungnath: 12,000 feet/ 3600 m, Chandrashila: 12,100 feet/ 3700 m

Duration: 2-3 hours trek and 2-3 hours drive

On the 2nd day of your journey, we will leave Chopta/Sari Village and head to Tungnath, Chandrashila. The trek will consist of going and returning, with a well-defined stony trail providing a clear view of the Chandrashila mountain and the brilliant colors of Tungnath temple.

A few hours into your hike, you will encounter the first obstacle: walking on the steep upward bend on the mountain's ridgeback. The trail will be covered in Rhododendron blossoms throughout. When you get to the Tungnath temple, take time to worship Lord Shiva.

Tungnath is among the highest Lord Shiva temples in the world. After the temple visit, we will trek to Chandrashila peak. Spend some time at the peak and watch the beautiful panoramic view of some of the highest peaks. Later we'll be coming back to Sari village, eating dinner and spending the night in our hotel.

Day 3: Departure from Sari.

Distance: 200 km

Altitude: 6,600 feet/ 2000 m

Duration: 7-8 hours

This is our last day of the trek. Get up early and pack your stuff as we will be checking out from our hotel. We will be leaving for Rishikesh early in the morning. On the way to Rishikesh, we will stop for a lunch break and further continue our journey. Enjoy every moment as we will return to Rishikesh by evening.
